I'm starting to get a lot of people asking about if it's possible to spy on the new Nokia N900.

Since the N900 uses the Maemo (version 5) Operating System, there is not any way that I'm aware of to spy on this device using spy phone software such as Mobile Spy or Flexispy. Furthermore, after reading some news today about Nokia's Maemo plans for 2010, in which Nokia is only going to release one Maemo based device in 2010, I don't see any Maemo spy phone software coming out anytime soon. The reason being that spy phone vendors are obviously in the business to make money, so they go after cell phone devices with the largest user base. Targeting Symbian based devices, iPhones, etc. presents a lot more opportunity for sales, versus going after a platform such as Maemo, with a small user base.

Until Nokia cell phones running the Maemo OS start to reach the iPhone or BlackBerry type numbers, I think it will be a long time before see Maemo spy software. This means anyone who is looking for a Nokia N900 spy phone or Maemo spy software will have to wait at least another 1-2 years.

I know a lot of people who are unable to get physical access to their target's cell phone will sometimes decide to purchase the "HOT" new cell phone as a gift, install spy software on it, then give the cell phone to their target. However, if you were hoping to purchase a N900 with hopes in giving your target a N900 spy phone, you might want to choose another device such as the Nokia N97 or Nokia N5800 Xpress Music phone. Both these Nokia devices do support spy software.

Good luck.
